- | Today, we meet with two ambassadors to Afghanistan: Zamir Kabulov from Russia, and William Wood from the United States. |
- | Mr. Kabulov, what insight can you give us on the current situation? |
Zamir kabulov | As I have said previously, the Americans have not only repeated all of our mistakes, but they are inventing new ones. I have offered my expertise, but they do not wish to learn from us. |
- | Mr. Wood, is this true? |
William Wood | It is. We maintain our traditional position that the US is SUI GENERIS; we are completely without precedent or analogue in the world, and have nothing to learn from anyone. |
- | The next panel features a comparison of the Soviet and American missions. |
checklist | Easily swept into cities, establishing new regime. Did not have the troops to adequately patrol or monitor the countryside, where resistance began. Stayed for years instead of pulling out quickly, causing perception of occupation in a country that has rarely stayed occupied long. Over-reliance on unpopular air strikes that often killed the wrong people. Last-ditch effort to win by increasing troop numbers. |
- | Mr. Wood, there seems to be much in common... |
William Wood | Have you not been paying attention? The Russians wore fUR HATS! |
